Friends of 1NEUser Involvement1NE sees 'user involvement' as very important. Clients are encouraged to be involved in the running of the programme from: taking care of their surroundings, involvement in groups, client representation on the Management Committee, 'Friends of One North East' functions (see below), suggestions welcomed informally and through questionnaires, through to some clients, who have at least one year's sobriety, joining the Management Committee as a full voting member. It has been said that the most interesting and convincing part of our Annual Report are the contributions made by the clients. We actively encourage clients to remain in contact with the centre and they are always welcome back on to the full time programme if necessary. One way of encouraging service users to stay in touch is through the work of Friends of One North East (London). Fo1NE is a client-led initiative run by clients for the benefit of clients past and present. They provide social events where clients and their families are able to enjoy themselves in a safe environment without the presence of alcohol. They produce a newsletter twice a year keeping people informed of developments at 1NE and providing news of events/workshops being held during the year, as well as stories, poems etc from clients. Fo1NE also provide volunteers who help with administration and refurbishment. Over the past year they have transformed the garden. Whipps Cross Volunteer ServiceOur Patron is the Director of a volunteer service at Whipps Cross where clients and ex clients have been actively involved in different projects as volunteers and trainers. |
